InternshipFinished
Start Date
May 18, 2026 → August 7, 2026
Duration
May - August 2026
My role
Drive Unit Structural Engineering Intern
Core Skills
- FEA-driven iteration
- CATIA
- GD&T Analysis
- Fastener Engineering
What I did
- Root-caused a drive unit mount durability test failure by verifying bolted-joint behavior, analyzing fractured fasteners, and correlating findings with CAE team FEA results; identified preload loss from mount deformation and unfavorable bolt loading as the final failure mechanism.
- Redesigned production mount through DFM/FEA-informed iterations, reduced peak stress by 41% to below casting material's -3σ yield stress while maintaining vehicle packaging and GD&T requirements.
- Presented root-cause analysis, design tradeoffs, and final validation to 30-person drive unit team and directors.
